Institute of Plantation & Horticulture Management is an autonomous body established to impart training in latest technologies to executives working in Plantations and Horticulture fields with global perspective.
Dr. G.K.Veeresh , former Vice Chancellor, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, India is the Chairman of the Institute. Dr.Veeresh had a colourful career as Vice-Chancellor and he made a mark in the agricultural education in the University. He was ICAR Emeritus Scientist and also the Dean and Director of Instruction in UAS. He is an internationally known entomologist and has won several academic distinctions including the Hooker Award and Award for Research by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He is the Chairman of Organic Farming Association.
Mr. V.K.Abraham, former Managing Director of Plantation companies both in Public & Private sectors in India with a track record of over 35 years in Plantation Management is its Director. He is a recipient of National Award from President of India for best performance in the field of Horticulture. The Institute has on its Board of Governors many eminent persons holding key positions in the State & Central Governments, Public & Private sector organisations.
The Institute also has the privilege of having Dr.C.P.A. Iyer, a renowned horticulturist, an FAO Consultant and also a former Director, Central Institute of Horticulture. Lucknow as its Technical Director. The Institute also has fifty experts as visiting faculties to guide & give lectures as subject matter specialists.
Thomas Abraham, MBA is a management graduate with excellent exposure to plantation & horticulture in India and Malaysia. He has been actively involved in management training programmes in plantation and horticulture. He co-ordinates the training programmes.
The Institute, since its inception has been conducting training programmes on various crops which include Rubber, Oil Palm, Cashew, Cardamom, Pepper, Coffee, Fruits, Floriculture. Medicinal & Aromatic Plants, Vanilla etc. Since the training programmes are widely recognised and appreciated as highly educative and rewarding, departments of various state governments, Commodity Boards like Coffee Board, financial institutions, banking sector, corporates, foreign embassies, leading plantation companies and export houses send their executives to undergo the training. Individual entrepreneurs also make use of the programmers for their venture.
Institute of Plantation and Horticulture Management is located at Marathahalli just 4 kms from Bangalore Airport junction on Bangalore - Whitefield Road which leads to the International Technology Park.
